July 19-20: Lewis & Clark Reunion I (Click here to see Schedule) at
Nebraska City's Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Center

On July 19, 1804, the Corps of Discovery passed where Nebraska City now sits on their way up the Missouri River. This event will be commemorated by a weekend of special programming at the Missouri River Basin Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center at their first Lewis & Clark Reunion. Activities start early Saturday and Sunday with a 7 a.m. bird walk. Other programs get underway at 9 a.m. and run through 5 p.m., both inside the Center and out. Many MOP members will be helping out through informal interpretation of the keel boat and earth lodge replicas. Guided walks will take advantage of the habitats that surround the Center. Hands-on activities are available for children both afternoons.

July 26-27: White Catfish Camp/Mormon Trek Battalion (Schedule)
This year, White Catfish Camp activities at the Western Historic Trails Center, on 24th St in Council Bluffs, will be joined by commemoration of the Mormon Battalion Trek of the mid-1850s. Reenactors representing both time periods will be set up through the weekend to engage the public with heroic tales of both great adventures. (ph 712-366-4900)
