Lewis & Clark White Catfish Encampment and
The Mormon Battalion Trek Celebration
Schedule For July 26 & 27, 2008

This year's event combines two eras of local area history. Lewis and Clark passed through here in July of 1804. Their five day respite from the Missouri river became known as the Camp White Catfish. In 1846 the Mormon Battalion mustered near what is now Iowa School for the Deaf and marched south about 2000 miles to participate in the Mexican-American War. Here is the schedule for our combined commemoration of these two important historic events of this area.
