Mouth of the Platte Chapter of the Lewis & Clark Trail Heritage Foundation is proud to join with Western Historic Trails Center in hosting the 2009 White Catfish Camp to commemorate Lewis & Clark's encampment in the Omaha, NE & Council Bluffs, IA area summer 1804. The public is encouraged to learn about the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and the people and the environment that they encountered when they arrived here.
This event will double as a Regional Meeting of the Lewis & Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, and is open to all members. All events, except the members meeting on Saturday, will be open to the public. This includes the Saturday evening catered picnic. In order to have a good idea of the number to anticipate, all persons (children, too) are asked to register. There is no registration fee; the only costs are modest prices for meals.
Event highlights include: keynote speaker Bud Clark, direct descendent of William Clark; Darrel Draper, as George Drouillard; Dale Clark and his Newfoundland Dog; Tribal Nation panel (incl. Matt Sitting Bear Jones & Bat Shunatona); Jeff Barnes - Forts of the Northern Prairies; Bev Hinds - Sgt. Floyd; Jim Peterson – Missouri River Past & Present; and book signing by Kira Gale (www.deathofmeriwetherlewis.com).
